President and Chief Executive Officer
My goal is to "do the right thing" for all Analyte stakeholders. Every day, I strive to understand the needs of our customers to take care of their health; identify the value proposition that is going to build our business to meet those needs; and build the team that can develop the best products and services to deliver that value. I also work hard to instill a sense of shared purpose in our team, and to support and facilitate the process of collective fact-finding, vigorous debate and decisionmaking.
Throughout my career, I have been involved with emerging businesses started by visionary founders and backed by stellar investors. My 20 years' experience include being part of the early days of enterprise software companies like Remedy, Ariba and Get2Chip; as well as the SaaS software offerings of CollabNet and consumer Internet offerings like TicketsNow. Though these businesses varied in size and scale - some going public and others being bought by public companies - they all shared a key success factor: passionate people who truly enjoyed solving customer problems in unique and innovative ways. In some cases, these innovations involved disruptions through new technologies; in other cases, the means and methods involved disruptions through business model innovations.
I am delighted to be a part of the great group of people at Analyte who constantly explore new and meaningful ways to bring quality healthcare services to our customers through business model and technology-enabled innovations.
Co-founder and Vice President of Business Development
My job is to discover and analyze new product and market opportunities for our Online Clinics.
I have been part of the business of technology startups nearly my entire career, starting as a software developer in 1990 after spending two years at Anderson Consulting (now Accenture). I co-founded a software company in 1992 and an online gaming company in 1996, in both cases running the business by day and writing code by night. In 1998, I gave up being a software entrepreneur and became a full-time venture capital investor at Flatiron Partners. From 2001 to 2008, I was an independent angel investor with Feedburner, TicketsNow and several other web-based companies.
On a personal level, I was raised in the farm country of north central Indiana. I fondly remember my first job detasseling corn (maybe not so fondly, for those of you who have ever done it!). I received an engineering degree from Purdue University, an MBA from Northwestern and I'm an alumni of the Kauffman Fellows Program. For anyone interested in learning more, visit my blog.
Co-founder and Vice President of New Services
My job is to expand the way we inform, engage and deliver new online healthcare services to consumers.
I am a strong believer that the patient is the most underutilized resource in healthcare today. For the past 10 years, I have created online user experiences that give people the power to engage in their care. Prior to Analyte, I co-founded Emmi Solutions, a healthcare communications company, that helps people learn what to expect before, during and after having a medical procedure, manage a chronic disease, and improve health outcomes. Emmi has become part of the patient experience in more than 300 U.S. hospitals and is one of the most awarded health communications platforms in the industry, earning the highest honors in interactive design, innovation, patient advocacy, medical animation and health literacy.
Prior to Emmi, I served as a Creative Director for Jellyvision, an interactive digital agency and maker of the interactive computer game You Don't Know Jack. Jellyvision specializes in creating Interactive Conversations, an experience that feels as if you're having a one-on-one conversation with a real human. Before Jellyvision, I was a film editor in New York and had the great fortune of working with my filmmaking heroes, Martin Scorsese and Merchant-Ivory. I received a BA in Literary Theory from Brown University.
Chief Technology Officer
Anything that has a plug, runs on electrons, or relies on software is my responsibility. I work closely with the rest of the executive team to ensure that we deliver the products, features and components that provide the best service for our users.
Over the past 10 years, I have focused on leveraging the latest technology advancements and platforms to bring disruptive innovation to large, consumer-facing industries. Formerly as Chief Internet Architect of Orbitz, I oversaw the rapid deployment of a full-featured travel agency, as well an innovative ticket distribution system that became the first new entrant in the space in decades. At Viewpoints Network, my team built a user-generated content site that was community-oriented, social and capable of generating high-quality content. We used this capability to build a plug-in service for e-commerce sites, allowing our partners to quickly build communities around their brand and products, quickly adding bottom-line value.
I am excited about applying the efficiencies of the Internet and the advancements in focused customer acquisition, activation and service to develop a state-of-the-art approach to healthcare.
Vice President of Service Delivery
My job is to deliver an exceptional client experience. Every day, I work to earn the trust and loyalty of our clients by really listening to them, and responding to their wants and needs. I'm excited to develop a terrific team and the most effective tools to support our client operations, and to continually innovate, enhance and refine how we help people take care of their health.
Throughout my 20-year career, I've worked in technology firms. I started with a hi-tech entrepreneurial telecommunications company, MCI (now Verizon), and I spent over a decade there in a variety of positions in sales, finance and operations. Most recently, I headed the worldwide customer care team at Motorola.
I combine the hard stuff (like technology, metrics, finance and process discipline) with the soft things (e.g., people's emotions, behaviors, motivations and discovering unmet needs). I'm still a student at heart...I like to learn, and leverage and improve upon best practices. And I often learn the most simply by listening to our customers.
I am excited about Analyte because we have a fantastic team and a great opportunity to deliver innovations in healthcare that really matter.
Chief Medical Officer
My mission is to evangelize the vision of Analyte within the healthcare ecosystem. I also drive Analyte's medical strategy, which will transform patient access to diagnostic testing and prevent disease within various populations. Having previously been an investor in diagnostic startups, I believe that advances in diagnostics can dramatically reduce healthcare costs and keep people healthier.
My career bridges emergency medicine, venture, social entrepreneurship, strategy, and global health. Previously, I was a Vice-President at New Leaf Ventures and a consultant at McKinsey & Company in the Private Equity, Payor/Provider, and Pharmaceutical practices. From 2002 to 2005, I was an Assistant Professor & Director of International Health at Northwestern University. I also co-founded my own startup called CompareHealth.com, a price transparency company, and started Score-in School, one of the largest after-school tutoring programs in Chicago.
I attended Northwestern, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois where I obtained an MD, MBA, MPH, and BS in Electrical Engineering.
Chief Compliance Officer
My job is to lead Analyte's internal compliance team and to assist Analyte in its commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and compliance standards. In keeping with this goal, my responsibilities include oversight of all compliance related policies and procedures at Analyte Health, workforce education efforts, and managing internal audits.
Before coming to Analyte, I was a litigation associate in the Washington D.C. office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. While at Fried Frank, I was involved in a variety of matters related to the healthcare industry that provided me with knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations relevant to Analyte's work. Prior to Fried Frank, I served as a law clerk to Judge W. Eugene Davis of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
I graduated from Dartmouth College and received my JD from the Law School at the University of Chicago.
