Erectile Dysfunction Treatment Plan (Tadalafil)

General guidance:

As-needed dosing:

• Take tadalafil 30–60 minutes before sexual activity
• Effects may last up to 24–36 hours
• Do not take more than one dose per day

Daily dosing:

• Take tadalafil once daily at the same time each day
• Allows for more spontaneous sexual activity without planning doses

Additional guidance:

• May be taken with or without food
• Sexual stimulation is required for the medication to be effective
• Follow your provider’s specific dosing instructions carefully

Do not take more than the prescribed dose.

Do not use tadalafil with nitrate medications (such as nitroglycerin), as this combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

Use caution when taking medications for blood pressure or prostate conditions, as tadalafil may enhance their effects.

Common side effects may include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, muscle aches, back pain, or indigestion.

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may increase side effects such as dizziness or low blood pressure.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:

• An erection lasting longer than 4 hours (priapism)
• Chest pain or severe dizziness
• Sudden vision or hearing loss

Tadalafil

This medication may cause an allergic reaction in some individuals.

Stop this medication and seek immediate medical care if you experience:

• Rash or hives
• Swelling of the face, lips, or throat

• Tadalafil may be preferred for patients seeking longer-lasting effects or daily dosing
• Daily dosing may support improved spontaneity compared to as-needed medications
• Dose adjustments may be needed to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects
• Alternative ED treatments may be considered if response is insufficient

• Use of nitrate medications (e.g., nitroglycerin)
• Severe heart disease or recent cardiovascular event
• Uncontrolled low or high blood pressure

• Severe liver or kidney disease
• Certain eye conditions (such as retinitis pigmentosa)
• Unexplained chest pain or shortness of breath
