Oral Minoxidil for Hair Loss

This treatment plan outlines the dosage, administration, expected benefits, and potential side effects of oral minoxidil for hair loss treatment. Oral minoxidil is used to treat various types of hair loss, including androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss).
INSTRUCTIONS:
For treatment of hair loss, you have been prescribed:
Oral minoxidil, to be taken as directed by your provider (commonly once daily).
General guidance:
- Take the medication at the same time each day
- May be taken with or without food
- Use exactly as prescribed: do not increase your dose without provider guidance
- Consistency is essential for results
Hair growth is gradual. Increased shedding may occur during the first several weeks of treatment as older hairs are replaced by new growth. Visible improvement is typically seen after 3-6 months, with continued progress over time.
IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING YOUR TREATMENT:
- Take this medication only as prescribed. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Because oral minoxidil affects blood vessels, it may lower blood pressure in some individuals.
- Common side effects may include increased hair growth in unintended areas (face or body), mild swelling, or lightheadedness.
- Less common but more serious side effects may include rapid heart rate, significant swelling, or shortness of breath.
- If you experience chest pain, fainting, or severe swelling, seek immediate medical attention.
- Do not stop the medication abruptly without consulting your provider.
- For your safety, discuss this medication with your provider if you have a history of heart disease or blood pressure conditions.

This medication contains the following active ingredient. Do not use if you are allergic to this ingredient or any components listed in the manufacturer’s information.

ALLERGIES:

Stop this medication and seek immediate medical care if you experience:
- Rash or hives
- Swelling of the face, lips, or throat
- Difficulty breathing
CONDITIONS:
