Zinc Supplements
OVERVIEW:
This support plan outlines the dosage, instructions, potential benefits, and possible side effects of oral zinc supplementation as part of your acne treatment plan. Please read this plan carefully, along with the manufacturer’s information provided with your supplement, for complete details regarding precautions, interactions, and other important safety information.
Zinc is an essential mineral that plays a role in immune function, inflammation regulation, and skin health. In acne treatment, zinc may help reduce inflammation, decrease oil production, and support overall skin healing.
INSTRUCTIONS:
For acne support, you have been recommended:
Oral zinc supplement, to be taken once per day.
Take zinc with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset. Avoid taking zinc at the same time as iron supplements, calcium supplements, or certain antibiotics unless directed by your provider, as these may affect absorption.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. Higher doses do not improve results and may increase the risk of side effects.
IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING YOUR TREATMENT:
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose unless specifically directed by your provider.
- Common side effects may include mild nausea, stomach upset, or metallic taste.
- Taking zinc on an empty stomach may increase nausea.
- If you experience persistent gastrointestinal symptoms or other concerning side effects, discontinue use
- Zinc supplementation should be discussed with your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

This medication may cause an allergic reaction in rare cases.
Stop this medication and seek medical care if you experience:
- Severe rash or hives
- Facial swelling
Difficulty breathing - Severe gastrointestinal distress
SIDE EFFECTS:
Common on an empty stomach:
- Nausea
- Upset stomach
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Metallic taste in the mouth
